Gore Adds More Guns

Gore has an army worth of snowmakiing going and in addition to the 130 new tower guns placed throughout Gore Mountain’s four peaks this fall, installation of 30 more low-profile guns has been completed on the signature Showcase trail. 

Showcase is a 1.25 mile cruiser located under the lift line of the high-speed Adirondack Express.  The 10' super-efficient tower guns are located to not impact the lift, as the snow is blown under the cables.  The water flow is variable, which allows Gore's snowmakers to control the quality and amount of snow produced as the temperatures change. 

The energy savings of these 160 new guns amounts to offsetting 1,428,721 KWH of electricity, which is 11% of Gore’s annual usage, or enough to power 260 average three-bedroom homes for a year! 

The snowmaking guns have been accompanied by several other improvements for 2011/2012, which include the addition of two new glades on Little Gore Mountain, the all-new Open Pit Grille on the sundeck, a renovation to the Tannery Pub & Restaurant, and a long extension of the Chatterbox Glades. 

Saturday Nights At Pats Peak All Inclusive Ticket - $43

At Pats Peak, NH, for just $43 per person, you can get access to skiing, snowboarding, snowtubing, lesson tips, rentals, bonfires, and entertainment on Saturday nights from January 7, 2012 through End of Season 2012 from 3pm to 10pm.  Snowtubing hours are from 5pm to 10pm.
 
Arrive earlier in the day on Saturday and get rental equipment to start skiing/riding earlier and spend more time on the slopes. "Step Up To POP Tickets" are available from 12pm-10pm for $73; 1pm-10pm for $63; 2pm-10pm for $53; 3pm-10pm for $43. These are the only tickets available on Saturday nights for all ages. Rental equipment is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
 
New Year's Eve 2011 Goes POP from 3pm-10pm on Saturday, December 31, 2011 for only $53. In addition to the regular POP benefits, there will be a live band, comedians, party favors and fireworks to kick off the new year.
 
"Our Saturday Night POP ticket is significantly discounted to give guests new to skiing or snowboarding a chance to try it at a very affordable rate. It's also a great opportunity for skiers to try snowboarding or vice versa, since the rental equipment and lesson tips are included in the ticket," says Kris Blomback, General Manager.
 
The Sled Pub is open on Saturday nights until midnight, with live music from 4pm-9pm and food service continues until 11pm.
 
Pats Peak offers night skiing "Under the Lights" starting December 26th on 100% of the mountain with beginner through expert trails.

Okemo Opens Ski Demo and Sales Center

When it comes to buying skis my mantra has always been - Demo, Demo, Demo. Try before you buy is the way to go especially now with all the variations of rocker technology that is evident in every ski manufacturers' lineup.

Okemo Mountaion Resort understands the need to Demo and is celebrating the opening of "Edges," a new equipment demo and sales center located beneath Okemo's iconic clock tower, in the Resort's original base area. Edges opened for business on Saturday, Dec. 17.

Edges Demo and Sales Center offers the newest skiing and riding equipment for the enthusiast looking to test ride before making a purchase. Edges also serves the discerning skier or rider who is looking to demo the latest technology. Brands represented include Salomon, Atomic, Elan, Rossignol, Ramp, and Stockli.

"This is the best way to buy equipment," says Okemo Snowsports Shop Assistant Director Dave Martin. "Why would you purchase new skis and snowboards any other way?"

Skiers and riders visiting Okemo can try all the new toys: fat skis, twin tips, carving skis, telemark skis, snowshoes and helmets, for a daily fee, or with the purchase of a new "Demo Pass" season pass package. Edges also demos lightweight, composite ski poles and top-of-the-line helmets.

Edges Demo Center's daily prices are $45 per day for one pair of skis/snowboard; $60 per day for three pairs of skis/snowboards; $80 per day for an unlimited number of products. Premium pole and helmet demos are $15 per day. Daily demo fees up to $135 can be applied toward the purchase of any ski/snowboard any time during the season.

Edges offers a variety of special Demo Center season passes. The World Cup Pass is $299 and includes 10 demos to be used throughout the season. $135 can be applied toward purchase of new skis or a snowboard. The Defiance Pass is $399 and includes 16 demos. $150 can be applied toward a purchase. The Double Diamond Pass is $499 and includes 22 demos. $175 can be applied toward a purchase. The Chief Pass is $699 and includes 34 demos. $200 can be applied toward a  purchase. Demo Center season pass holders can use two products per day.

Pats Peak Adult Clinics

Pats Peak, New Hampshire, invites Adults to join a Weekday Lesson Clinic, the most cost effective way to learn or improve your skills with lots of attention on individual development.  Skiers & Snowboarders of all abilities welcome!
 
Adult Clinics include a professional Lesson Clinics with the Pats Peak Snowsports School, a morning half-day lift ticket and lunch - all for less than the cost of a Half-Day Lift Ticket!

Adult Clinics can be taken Monday, Tuesday, Thursday or Friday morning, starting January 3, 2012 until the end of the season (exclusions apply). 
 
On Wednesdays, starting January 4, 2012, women can participate in the WOW, Women's Only Wednesday, Program. Women start the day off at 9am by enjoying a continental breakfast and an exciting morning discussion, designed specifically for women.

Discussion topics include: skiing/snowboarding fears and risk factors, yoga, skiing/riding exercises, nutrition, strength & power, stance and balance, physical and psychological gender differences, confidence building, equipment and boot fitting, and video analysis to enhance basic skills and improve personal skiing/snowboarding.

After morning discussions, participants head out onto the slopes for on-hill clinics taught by women only. The morning ends with a delicious lunch with instructors, allowing students and instructors to discuss their morning on the slopes.

"The WOW Program is a great program for women to feel comfortable learning on the slopes", say Holland. "Our female instructors personalize the program to the wants and needs of the group of participants," says Bertie Holland, Snowsports School Director.

Cub's Club Kids Programs are available for children whose parent is participating in the Adult Clinics or WOW Program. Cub's Club Child Care at Pats Peak opens at 8:15 am. Advanced reservations are required. Cub's Club Child Care is available for children ages 4 months to 6 years old and Cub's Club is available for children ages 3 years to 6 years.
