A new 2010 Prinoth Husky Snowcat has been added to the fleet of grooming equipment at Lapland Lake Nordic Vacation Center in Benson, NY. “We are very excited to add this powerful, state-of-the-art snowcat to Lapland Lake’s grooming arsenal”, Hirvonen said. “We have a demonstrated history of investment in high end grooming equipment to offer the best possible experience to our cross country skiing public.”
The Prinoth Husky comes with a rear-mounted tiller, 12-way blade and compactor. Powered by an eco-friendly direct injection 176hp Mercedes diesel engine, the Husky is in full compliance with the EUROMOT III A exhaust standards.
Additional grooming equipment at the resort includes two super wide Skandic Ski-Doo snowmobiles, a Ginzugroomer and a variety of other grooming implements.
A complete cross country ski and snowshoe facility celebrating its 32nd winter season, Lapland Lake offers fully equipped rental and retail shops, a comfortable two-story warming lodge with snack bar and trail side Tuulen Tupa Grill. The trail system has 50km of trails for all ability levels. 38km are marked, mapped and snowcat groomed with trackset and skating lanes; 12km are ungroomed, marked, mapped snowshoe trails.
In addition to cross country skiing and snowshoeing, other resort activities include ice-skating, tubing on two junior hills, wilderness ski touring and visiting with the resort’s two domesticated reindeer!
Lodging is available in private rooms and 10 housekeeping cottages. Lodging packages include use of trails each day and evening including days of arrival and departure, use of the Finnish wood burning sauna and 50% off one regularly scheduled group ski lesson per person. Attractive lodging discounts are offered non-holiday Sunday through Thursday nights.
